Sideloading Chroma

Getting Chroma onto your iPhone, start to finish. There are two ways to sign it; pick the one you’ll use.

How will you sign it?

This is the easy way. Apple charges $99 a year for a developer account, but certificate services sell certificates for much less. Chroma recommends Arctic Sign, from $8.89, and other services work too.

What you’ll need

  1. Get a certificate

Buy one from Arctic Sign, or any certificate service you trust. It comes as two files, a .p12 and a .mobileprovision, and some come with a password. Keep all of them somewhere you can open on your iPhone.

  2. Install Feather and add your certificate

Feather signs and installs apps right on your iPhone. Your certificate service will usually give you a link to install it. Open Feather and import your .p12 and .mobileprovision files, typing the password if your certificate has one.

  3. Get Spotify 9.1.90, decrypted

Chroma patches one exact version of Spotify, 9.1.90, and it needs a decrypted copy: App Store apps are encrypted, and only a decrypted IPA can be patched. Download the 9.1.90 IPA from ArmConverter.

  4. Patch it with Chroma

Open Chroma’s patcher, choose the decrypted IPA and tap Patch. It runs in your browser, so nothing gets uploaded. Save the patched IPA. If you did this on a computer, get it onto your iPhone: AirDrop, iCloud Drive, or email it to yourself.

  5. Sign and install it with Feather

In Feather, import the patched IPA, tap it and sign it with your certificate, then install it. Spotify, now with Chroma, appears on your Home Screen.
